Drawing Dreams: Jubilee’s Ksh3M Scholarship Art Challenge for Kids

There’s something magical about watching a child draw. It’s not just about the crayons or the paper.

It’s about what they believe, and see in their innocence. In this instance, a glimpse into what kids imagine money can do.

For the fifth year in a row, Jubilee Life Insurance is handing that magic back to children – and this time, they’re putting the entire country on notice.

Because this art competition has become a quiet revolution on financial literacy – delivered in colour, clay, collage and imagination.

The Jubilee Art Competition: Saving Becomes a Story

In a world where money is often misunderstood, ignored, or feared, Jubilee Life’s Art Competition is teaching kids a different language.

The competition invites Grade 1-4 students from across Kenya – in both public and private schools – to explore money matters through art.

Not in numbers or in textbooks. But with glue, pencil, pastels, beads, banana fibre, scrap paper, charcoal – everyday stuff they find around them.

The core message?

“Saving is not just a grown-up concept. It’s a mindset we can build early.”

Why is The Art Competition a Big Deal?

It’s an open secret that the earlier we learn about money, the better our lives get.

In Kenya, though – most people stumble into adulthood without this education – until it’s too late.

The Jubilee Art Competition gives children a voice – and lets them teach us what financial discipline looks like when it’s reimagined by 7-year-olds:

“I draw a piggy bank because it helps my mum rest.”

“I save money to buy books, so I can be a pilot.”

“We keep coins in a tin because we want to build our house.”

That’s how art has turned into a generational vision.

The Numbers are Impressive

The numbers do not lie:

  • 13,000 entries received last year.
  • Students participated from 26 counties.
  • Jubilee awarded Ksh3M in secondary school scholarships.

Artwork showcased the creativity of children in rural, urban, public and private schools alike.

In the 2025 edition, the canvas is set on a bigger scale.

Who Can Participate in The Jubilee Art Competition?

This competition is open to:

  • Grade 1-4 learners.
  • All CBC curriculum schools (public & private).
  • All 47 counties across Kenya.

Children are invited to submit original artworks exploring themes around saving, discipline, and money values, guided by teachers and parents.

Artwork must be submitted with an entry form signed by the school and a parent or guardian.

The deadline for 2025 entries falls on 20 July 2025.

Art With a Purpose

Beyond a dream to plant a creative seed in the next Picasso, this initiative bears more life lessons:

  • It teaches kids the power of delayed gratification.
  • It helps schools incorporate financial literacy in creative ways.
  • This gives parents a platform to talk about money without fear.

This initiative positions Jubilee Life Insurance as a purposeful partner in future financial planning – from childhood to adulthood.

The best part?

Children win more than trophies – they get a chance to win valuable scholarships.

A child out there will draw a sponsored study path to high school and beyond with a simple crayon sketch.

How to Participate in the Jubilee Art Competition?

It’s a straightforward process:

  1. Create an original artwork on saving/financial discipline.
  2. Fill in the official entry form (available at schools or online).
  3. Get parent/guardian and headteacher approval.
  4. Submit before 20 July 2025.

Jubilee Life brings a way to nurture the dreams of our kids. When a child learns to save, they start to protect their future.
